Cats
Our training always begins with a professional assessment. We will meet with you virtually (via Zoom). During this initial assessment, we observe how you and your cat interact and we review your cat’s behavior history and your training goals. We end the meeting by discussing our observations and presenting a training plan, which we map out using our LOMA training platform (Basecamp). We also provide tips for managing your cat's behavior until they meet the training program goals.
Rest assured we never deliberately try to make your cat feel fearful or show aggressive behavior, or any of the behaviors that might be the reason why you are reaching out for help, whether we see you in-person or virtually. We don’t need to see the behavior to understand why it’s happening and how to help you. The most important thing that helps us understand your cat is our knowledge of animal learning and how fear and aggressive behavior develop. We use all the information you share and our knowledge to create behavior modification plans that help you and your cat.
We started offering virtual sessions at the beginning of the pandemic because it was the only option. Then we realized virtual assessments were actually much more effective than the in-person assessments we had been doing. It is more effective with anxious or aggressive cats because we can get more information without a stranger in the room. It lets us see your cat in their natural state when they are not highly agitated. We can also start the learning process quickly, instead of waiting for your cat to get comfortable with one of our staff.
