Community Trainers Course • Tue, May 2 at 7:00PM • K9 Cafe Boutique and Spa

This class is for volunteers who are working with animal welfare groups and want to learn more about how to help the dogs in their care. This class is provided by LoMa Behavior and Training as a community service to help get dogs into and keep them in adoptive homes. Students enrolled in the Community Trainers Course serve as student instructors for the dogs who attend the Get Control class.

This hands-on course is designed to give students skills to work with the dogs who attend the Get Control class and also apply those skills to the dogs they meet in shelters and foster homes. The course will cover the basic principles of how dogs learn, how to apply those to the most common issues arising in dogs that live temporarily in shelters or foster homes, and how to resolve common behavior issues. You will learn the principles of how dogs learn, skill with using a marker signal such as a clicker, and basic safety procedures for handling exuberant dogs.

PRE-REQUISITES:
When you sign up, you will first come to observe the Get Control class. Then, if you wish to continue in the course, we will arrange to assess your current knowledge and skills and provide you with resources and training so you are comfortable teaching common obedience skills and handling the most frequent behavior issues. Contact our office if you have any questions.
Cancellation policy  If you won't be able to attend, please remember to cancel.
